A diabetes specialist with the Greater Western Area Health Service says he is heartened by Broken Hill people's awareness of type two diabetes.
World Diabetes Day was held on Friday and the health service had a stall at Centro Westside Plaza to provide information on the disease and answer questions.
The specialist, Peter Prime, says diabetes is a very serious condition but those with it can live long lives if they have control of the disease.
"The 32 people that came and talked to me they were clearly concerned and that's what the day is about, answering people's concerns and giving them information so they can go off and make a decision for themselves and go off and see their doctor and get it followed up," he said.
