The Food and Drug Administration has issued an alert to remind users of single-patient insulin pens and insulin cartridges that they should not be shared because of the risk of transmitting blood-borne pathogens such as HIV and hepatitis viruses.
Insulin pens are single-patient, pen-shaped injector devices that contain a disposable needle and either an insulin reservoir or cartridge.
Sharing insulin pens not recommended
